Singapore, 2 April 2024 - Singapore’s first eco-mall City Square Mall is undergoing a S$50 million makeover and is set to unveil a fresh new look and exciting tenancy remix, with completion expected in the first half of 2025.

This revamp marks a major Asset Enhancement Initiative (AEI) for the 15-year-old mall conveniently located above Farrer Park MRT station. The first phase of the AEI, which commenced in the third quarter of 2023, is close to completion – welcoming 14 F&B outlets across Basements 1 and 2, as well as an updated food court at Basement 3 in the coming months.

The AEI will add about 26,000 sq ft of Gross Floor Area (GFA) to City Square Mall through space optimisation and incentive initiatives, creating even more space for shoppers to enjoy. This includes a brand-new food haven on Level 4, a revamped food court in Basement 3, and new retail areas at the atriums from Level 2 to 4. Beyond the diverse food options, the makeover focuses on a modern interior design, engaging community initiatives, and sustainable features, offering an elevated shopping experience for all.

During the AEI, City Square Mall remains open to all. Shoppers can still shop and dine as they always do at their favourite stores and restaurants. Signages and temporary directories will be strategically placed around to redirect shoppers from the areas undergoing renovation.

Highlights of City Square Mall’s AEI:

Refreshed Dining Options: Expect a welcoming Basement 1 entryway with fresh shops, familiar favourites like Crave and Ya Kun Kaya Toast alongside new kiosks, a nostalgic Food Republic with local delights in Basement 3 (opening May 2024), and the grand opening of Gastro Square on Level 4 – a 24,000 sq ft haven for global and local culinary delights.

Renewed Focus on Supporting the Community as a Family-Friendly Hub: Through the Community/Sports Facilities Scheme, City Square Mall’s AEI will establish community spaces on Level 4, providing a range of programmes tailored to youths and families. A designated area on the same floor will also serve as a Performance Area, offering a welcoming and conducive setting for social gatherings, activities, and cultural events.

Integrating Upcycled Materials to Promote Circularity: Reflecting CDL’s commitment to sustainability, City Square Mall will showcase sustainable initiatives and circularity by integrating upcycled materials into its new interior decorations. Lift lobbies and wall finishes from Basement 4 to Level 6 will be refreshed with a series of wall murals that are created from sustainable decorative eco-materials.
